Local Activist and Author Team Up to Raise Money for Eradication of Land Mines
Heidi Kuhn, a fifth generation Marin descendant and Peter Anderson, Marin native and veteran journalist, have teamed up in a unique way to raise money for Kuhn’s non-profit Roots of Peace. The organization, dedicated to eradicating the over 70 million land mines scattered across 70 countries, will receive a portion of the proceeds from Anderson’s soon-to-be-published book titled 100 Faces of Marin.
The book will capture and portray the soul of Marin and will contain an assemblage of Marinites – famous residents such as Isabel Allende, Michael Pritchard, and Tom Johnston, of the Doobie Brothers will be featured along with local activists, politicians, educators, business people, humorists and artists.
“This is a true harvest of hope,” said Kuhn whose “think locally act globally” philosophy has distinguished her as one of Marin’s brightly shining lights, says that Roots of Peace is thrilled about the partnership with 100 Faces of Marin. “The idea is brilliant – by honoring people in Marin whom we all know and respect, we are blending borders beyond our own backyards. That is to say, the help we receive from the sales of this book will have a direct impact on the vital life-enhancing mission of Roots of Peace. with the public’s assistance, this collaboration will help change the world.”
The book project is offering a special discounted pre-sale rate. For every book sold, five dollars goes directly to support Roots of Peace. Your five-dollar donation can be deducted as a charitable contribution. This special offer expires on December 15, 2003.
The 200-plus-page coffee table stylebook will be published in March 2004 and has received strong support from the community. Sponsors include: Bank of Marin, Birkenstock, Block and Associates, Cal Land Title, Hanson, Bridgett, Vlahos, Marcus And Rudy, LLP, Jackson’s Hardware, Marin General and Novato Community Hospitals, Marin Independent Journal, Marin Joe’s, Marin Recycling Resource Center, Seton Smoke Capital Management, Tamalpais Bank, The Dutra Group and Value Magazine.
100 Faces of Marin is a great premium for clients and staff or the perfect gift with just the right local touch for family and friends. Award-winning and widely regarded
